The Holistic approach to disease is to identify the root causes of the disease and then provide information and use natural methods to eliminate these causes and heal. The holistic approach focuses on healing. It treats disease as “dis-ease “- an imbalance of mind, body and spirit. The holistic approach provides information and methods to re-balance mind, body and spirit.
Likewise, addictions involve imbalance of mind, body and spirit. The holistic approach is to heal the addiction, to reverse it. To do this, we must eliminate the root causes of the addiction and re-balance mind, body and spirit.
Whether an addiction is to a substance or a behavior, the holistic approach is always the same- i.e., to re-balance mind-body and spirit. To do this requires accurate information and specific techniques. This includes information and techniques with respect to spiritual practices including meditation, prayer and visualizations, energy body cleansing and healing, positive thinking techniques, emotional release, detoxification, nutrition, exercise and stretching,
The holistic approach contains some elements found in the twelve steps – especially with respect to the spiritual components of the twelve steps. The twelve steps were developed by Alcoholics Anonymous and later used to also treat drug addiction. But, the holistic approach goes beyond the twelve steps.
The holistic approach also uses love to heal. To a great extent, it is a lack of love that leads to addiction (a lack of love of the addict by others and a lack of self love). So, the antidote to a lack of love is more and more love, kindness, gentleness, softness, positive words and gestures, hugs, and positive energy – the energy of infinite, unconditional love. Love heals.
The primary causes of addiction are spiritual, emotional and energy problems. These problems involve obsessive and compulsive thoughts and cravings. These thoughts and cravings are caused by negative changes in bran chemistry and brain wave activity. These changes are caused by spiritual, emotional and energy problems. Therefore, the remedies must be spiritual, emotional and energy.
These remedies include emotional release and heart-centered prayer, mediation and visualizations along with natural supplements that work on addiction, cravings and anxiety. They also involve energy healing through Reiki. Qi Gong, Integrated Energy Therapy, Acupuncture and other energy healing modalities. Bio feedback and hypnosis also help. All these techniques work on the unconscious mind and energy body.
So, let’s examine the causes of addiction. First and foremost, addiction involves a strong energy attachment to the addictive substance or behavior. The strong energy attachment adversely affects brain chemistry and brain wave activity and compels ongoing, relentless craving.
Conventional medicine focuses on the brain, behavior and pharmaceutical drugs. It ignores the energy body, the unconscious mind and natural remedies. The holistic approach focuses on the whole person, mind, body and spirit. With respect to addiction, it first focuses on the energy body and unconscious mind. Problems with the energy body and unconscious mind result in problems with brain chemistry and brain wave activity. This leads to ongoing negative thoughts and emotions, low self-esteem, behavior problems, compulsions, craving and addiction.
It all begins with the energy body. The energy body is defined as the aura, charkas, meridians and nadis (also known as spirit) and the soul or higher self. The energy body is the seat of the unconscious mind. In a clean and healthy energy body, the soul is fully connected to the spirit and the energy body is intact, clean, bright and vibrant.
A clean and healthy energy body automatically works to draw in, process and distribute life force energy through the body and brain to keep them healthy. Life force energy flows to each cell of the body and brain through the blood vessels. When a person’s energy body is healthy and clean, that person’s brain chemistry and brain wave activity are normal and balanced.
The energy body gets damaged from trauma. The trauma could be childhood or adult trauma. Trauma rips apart the energy body and results in “soul” loss. Soul loss involves some disconnection or blockage that separates the soul from the spirit and causes cracks and fissures to form in the aura. Energy blockages and energy attachments ensue.
The effects of trauma often cause the person to not feel whole, balanced, peaceful or happy. There is loss of inner power, energy and self-esteem. There is a void that must be filled and anger, fear, resentment, regrets and/or guilt that must be assuaged. The addiction often fills the void and soothes the raw, negative emotions.
Often, trauma causes a hard shell that forms around the heart that then must be de-armored through energy healing. The heart or heart chakra must be unblocked to ensure the flow of peaceful, life force energy in the body and brain for healing. Trauma often causes blockages to form in the solar plexus chakra. The solar plexus chakra must be unblocked to bolster one’s self esteem, power and energy.
Often, trauma leads to depression and anxiety. Addicts are often depressed and anxious. Energy blockages in the chakras cause us to hold onto anger, fear, anxiety, resentment, guilt and/or shame. Thee blockages, along with damage to the energy body from trauma, change conscious and unconscious beliefs from positive to negative. They disturb our inner peace and peace of mind and drain our power, self esteem and energy. They then compel ongoing negative thoughts and emotions. These changes affect behavior. The person is no longer balanced, grounded and able to draw in, process and distribute life force energy.
The first step to reverse addiction is to acknowledge it, desire to reverse it and commit to reverse it. The next step is to believe the addiction can be reversed and to focus your entire being on reversing the addiction. Focus on achieve balance and happiness, to feel whole and complete, to achieve and maintain inner peace, peace of mind and joy. The mind and will when focused are very powerful healing tools. It is also important to develop skills to cope with stress because stress often drives us back to addiction.
So first, surrender the addiction to God and the Divine. Close your eyes and center yourself in your heart/heart chakra and say “I am addicted and the addiction is too powerful for me. I call on you God and all the Divine angels of Light who are around me and I surrender my addiction to you and ask for your help. My addiction is out of my control. I need your help.”
Then say “I am healthy, whole and complete. I am so loved by God and the Divine. I will end this addiction with your help.” Know in your heart that this will be done and that your birthright is to be happy and healthy.
Next, take the steps to achieve balance and happiness. This requires inner work. The first step is to flush out and let go of past traumas, one at a time- layer by layer. At the same time, flush out and release all stored negative emotions. This is done through visualizations.
These visualizations will ensure that the traumas no longer have an emotional grip on you. Close your eyes and center yourself in your heart. Visualize that each trauma, one at a time, and all related negative emotions are in your hands. Then, with open palms to the heavens, visualize that you lift these traumas and negative emotions from you and offer them to God and the Divine. Ask God and the Divine to take these traumas and negative emotions from you. Feel them lift off you as if a burden has been lifted from you.
Visualize that each trauma, one at a time, is in a glass ball that hovers in front of your body and is attached to your body with an energy chord. Next, visualize that you put your hands on top of the glass ball. Now, through your applied will and intent, thrust the visualized ball deep into the ground with your hands. Actually thrust the visualized ball deep into the ground. Imagine that the energy chords that connect you to the trauma-ball snap and fall away as you thrust the ball deep into the ground and say “Be gone. Deep into the ground you go.” An alternative visualization is to see yourself placing each of these traumas in separate shoe boxes and throwing them down an open well. Feel and see the energy chords that attach you to these shoe boxes snap and fall away as you throw them down the well.
After you do these exericses, send visualized white light from your heart to these traumas to heal their grip on you.
The next step is to fill your body with visualized white light. So, you flush out and let go of the negative and fill up with the positive. Breathe in positive energy. Draw in positive energy with white light visualization. Sit or lie down, close your eyes and shift into your heart, focus only on your breath. Breathe deeply into your heart and torso through your nose. Visualize that with each breath you are breathing in visualized white light as pure unconditional love. Hold each breath for a few seconds and breathe out all negativity and tension through your pursed lips as visualized grey smoke. Relax..Breathe in visualized white light and push it out a foot or two from your body and hold it there with the intention of raising your vibrations and burning off all negative energy. Visualize your body filled and surrounded by white light.
You can find more white light visualizations on YouTube. When you do them visualize that the white light fills your entire body and raises your vibrations as it burns off all negative energy.
Do violet flame meditations and visualizations. You can find them on YouTube also. When you do them, visualize there is a violet flame in your torso that raises your vibrations and burns off all negative energy. These are energy-cleansing exercises.
Next, cleanse, heal, balance and align your chakras through chakra meditations and visualizations. You can find them on YouTube. Pay particular attention to your heart, solar plexus, base and root chakra. Breathe visualized white light into these chakras Put your hand over your heart and solar plexus and direct visualized white light into them. Imagine that your solar plexus chakra is bathed in the color yellow. Imagine that the color green bathes your heart chakra. Then, imagine these chakras spin freely, free of all blockages. Use your hand to make a circle in the air near these chakra points to indicate that they now spin freely, clean and bright without blockage. If you believe that have a hard shell around your heart, close your eyes and visualize that a laser beam if white light continuously and strongly hits the hard shell around your heart and visualize that the shell melts away and leaves you with a clean, pink heart.
Sit or lie down, close your eyes and focus on each major chakra and the corresponding color for it one at a time and imagine that it is bathed in that color as the chakra: focus on your lower back and the color red (say the word red a few times), next your belly and the color orange (say the word orange a few times), next, your solar plexus and the color yellow (say the word yellow a few times), next your heart and the color green (say the word green a few times), next, your higher heart just above your heart and the color pink or teal (say the word pink or teal a few times), next your throat and the color blue (say the color blue a few times), next the middle of your forehead and the color indigo (say the word indigo a few times) and finally your crown and the color purple (say the word purple a few times). With your eyes closed, focus your attention on the major chakra points of the body. Focus on each one, one at a time, for a couple of minutes: the belly, the solar plexus and the heart. Visualize each of these chakras, one at a time, are filled with white light and turning clockwise like a wheel, free of blockages.
The next step is to cut the energy cable that attaches you to addictive substances or behaviors through energy chord cutting visualizations. Imagine that there is a cable that connects to your body and the addictive substance or behavior. Then, with your non-dominant hand, grab that visualized cable. With your dominant hand, imagine that your dominant hand is a blade. Now, slice through the cable with your dominant hand. Imagine that you slice right through the cable and it falls away.
At the same time, get energy body cleansing and healing through Acupuncture, Massage and Reiki, Qi Gong, Integrated Energy Therapy and/or another energy healing method.
Daily prayer and meditation from the heart are important. Start with deep cleansing breaths. Sit or lie down. Get comfortable and relaxed. Close your eyes and focus only on your breaths. In prayer, praise and thank God for all your blessings, say powerful prayers from your faith, ask for forgiveness for all sins, and ask the Divine to take away all sins and negativity from you.
Do zone-out meditation. Sit or lie down. Get comfortable and relax. Close your eyes. Get into a deeply, relaxed state by focusing only on your breath. Slow down your breath and say “re” on the in breath and “lax” on the out breath.
Forgive all. Forgive yourself. Forgiveness means to let go so whatever you did or whatever was done to you no longer has an emotional grip on you. Do not cling to injuries, harm, mistakes and sins. Let it all go.
Visualize that your inner child is right in front of you. Smile as you send him or her unconditional love as visualized white light from your heart. Tell him or her that you love him or her and that he or she is now safe to play. Let him or her know that you are now the inner parent to the inner child and all is fine. Your inner child is still part of you and this is the process to heal childhood wounds. As you do this, you will feel more peaceful, relaxed, confident and happy. Love heals all.
Depression and anxiety often accompany addiction. To reverse depression and anxiety, use mind, body and spirit techniques. First and foremost, relax and raise your vibrations. When anxiety comes, shift out of your head and center yourself in your heart. Focus only on your breath until worried thoughts fade away.
Here is a visualization to help you relax: Sit or lie down, close your eyes and focus only on your deep and slow breaths. Visualize the color light blue for relaxation. Visualize the following: you are lying on your back on a raft in the middle of a calm blue ocean, surrounded by a beautiful light blue sky. There is light blue everywhere. Visualize that you are sitting on a beach chair on a beautiful, tropical beach with palm trees and lush tropical vegetation nearby. You are surrounded by the light blue sky and a calm blue ocean with soft waves that gently roll up the beach. Imagine that you smell the salt air and hear the gentle waves go in and out. Now, visualize that you drop into the salt water from your raft and immerse your head and entire body in the water. Visualize that the water washes away all negativity and negative energy in you.
Here are some ways to raise your vibrations: Lie down on your left side and put your right arm on your left forearm, close your eyes and stay heart centered and feel your vibrations rise. To raise your vibrations, close your eyes and clasp your hands together or place your hands on your thighs. Visualize a bright white sun in the middle of your solar plexus and push out visualized white light about six inches from your body.
Here are some additional ways to raise your vibrations. Sit down and relax, elevate your legs and close your eyes. Focus on your solar plexus with your eyes closed with the intent of raising your vibrations. Put your hand on your solar plexus and direct healing energy there. Hold high vibration crystals like orgone or citrine in you left hand while you do these exercises. Open your hand and repeatedly slap your upper chest, just below your neck. Do this at least 10 times in a row and then stop. Feel your vibrations rise. Some other ways include sounds designed to raise your vibrations that you will find in videos and CDs including on YouTube, crystal bowls, drumming, high vibration rock music, vibrating chairs, beds and massage devices.
As you raise your vibrations, depression and anxiety will fade away. This is because the first cause of anxiety and depression is low vibration, negative energy that gets in our energy field. The higher vibrations will burn off this negative energy.
Center yourself in your heart and send unconditional love from your heart to the world or another person as visualized white light. The positive energy you send out will come back to you in multiples for healing and wellness. To raise your vibrations, elevate your mood, smile, laugh, dance, listen to upbeat music, exercise, do yoga or take a walk in nature.
Often, we need to say something to another person who has wronged us or we need to apologize to another who we wronged. Either way, for the sake of you own happiness, it is important to express yourself. However, it is often not possible to say what we want to say directly. So, here is what to do: write down what you want to say to the other. Make it short and logical. Now, visualize the person is right in front of you and speak to that person what you wrote down without anger, bitterness, fear or rancor. Then, let it all go
Essential oils and color will help with depression and anxiety. For depression, visualize green or go outdoors around green plants and trees. For anxiety, visualize light blue or go outdoors around running water or large bodies of water and take in all that blue. Alternatively, watch scenes form nature (greenery and water) on your computer and meditate on these scenes. For anxiety, the essential oils vanilla and sandalwood are great. For depression, the essential oils citrus and floral scents are great.
Detoxify your body and your environment. This will help you feel better. Supplements will help with detoxification. They will also help with anxiety and depression. Detoxify with probiotics, mistletoe, greens and green juices, milk thistle and kidney flush along with parsley and cilantro, fresh lemon and water, iodine supplements and full trace minerals supplements and hot water and Himalayan salt. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins.
Holistic research indicates the benefits of the following supplements with respect to addiction and cravings: kratom, skullcap, ginkgo biloba, gaba, apple cider vinegar and caffeine. Holistic research indicates the benefits of the following supplements with respect to anxiety and depression, which are often linked to addiction: dark chocolate/cocoa (taken as a hot drink), valerian root, 5 htp, sam-e. St. John’s wort, hawthorn, magnesium, b complex vitamins, ashwgandha, passion flower (often taken as a tea), chamomile (often taken as a tea), holy basil and colloidal gold For general brain health, use coconut oil, Co Q 10, lycopene and ginkgo biloba and get reflexology. These supplements and reflexology will improve circulation and open up the meridians to bring needed life force energy to the brain cells.
Take salt baths for relaxation. When you take a bath or shower, visualize that the water removes all negative energy from you and the negative energy goes right down the drain.
Work on positive thinking. Stop ongoing thoughts that dwell on the painful past or future – blame, anger, resentment, regrets and guilt. Stop thoughts about anxiety and worries of the future. Be mindful of your thoughts. Monitor your thoughts and emotional state often.
When negative thoughts and emotions come in, move from the negative to the positive. Do not attach to negative thoughts. When thoughts about the painful past or worrisome future come in, use Distract and Substitute – i.e., focus your mind on a positive thought, image, mantra or prayer that make you feel peaceful and happy. When negative thoughts come in, shift out of your head and into your heart and just be in the moment.
Stay in your heart and be fully engaged in the moment with full attention in your heart and through your senses – and not through ongoing thoughts. Center yourself in your heart and the middle of your forehead. Ground yourself often with grounding visualizations. You can find these visualizations on YouTube.
Say positive affirmations often to change your beliefs about yourself from negative to positive. Boost your self esteem with positive affirmations. Say them to yourself over and over. “I am love, I am loved, I am happy, peaceful and serene, I am powerful, strong and confident. I am loving, patient and kind.” You can find many helpful positive affirmations on YouTube.
Do brain wave entrainment exercises. These include alpha, beta, delta and theta brain wave entrainment meditations. You can find them on YouTube. If necessary, try biofeedback and hypnosis.
Reduce stress and exposure to negativity. To reduce stress and exposure to negativity, orient your thoughts, acts and speech to the positive. Reduce your exposure to stress factors. Avoid conflict, argument and drama. Avoid negative and toxic people, environments and situations. Avoid people who drain your energy, people who intimidate and cause you to get angry, people who trigger a negative and impulsive emotional response in you and people who judge and criticize you.
Walk away from drama, argument and conflict. Focus on people, environments and situations that empower you, make your feel happy and loved. Focus on pets and nature and places where there is a lot of positive energy. Open up your heart to receive and send love to all. At the same time set and maintain boundaries to reduce stress and negativity.
Eat primarily whole, fresh vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds and whole grains. Organic and raw is best to maximize the vitamins and minerals you consume and minimize the toxins you ingest. Drink primarily water and tea. This will help you feel better.
Stop eating processed, packaged and refined foods and sugary and artificially flavored drinks. These are toxic foods and drinks. The toxins in them get into your cells including your brain cells. So, diet can impact brain chemistry and brain wave activity.
Get plenty of exercise. Get your heart rate up through cardio. Lift light-weights, stretch and do yoga. Move and dance, Listen to upbeat and peaceful music. Surround yourself with art, colors and nature. Keep your surroundings clean and orderly. Cultivate peace and happiness. Engage in positive activities each day that make you feel happy.
