Is your Internet Explorer very slow? It can be extremely frustrating. Especially if:
* You are already using a high-speed Internet connection.
* You are using a very fast computer with tons of memory and processing power.
* you have plenty of disk space and you're not running any other programs at the same time.
* your operating system has been updated with all of the latest patches.
* You are running the latest stable release of your web browser's operating system.
* you have protected your computer network with a robust and secure firewall.
* you have rebooted your PC to try to clear the problem, only to no avail.
* you have already scanned your PC for viruses and spyware, and your computer has a clean bill of health.
So what gives? Why is your Internet Explorer very slow? Why else could it be, if you have seemingly exhausted all other possibilities to fix the problem?
The answer, at this point, is that your Windows Registry may be corrupt.
The Windows registry is the master database that stores critical information about every piece of hardware and software that is associated with your PC. The operating system and the programs you are running on it have a constant need to read from and write to this database. Therefore, it is imperative that the Windows registry be speedy and responsive. However, over time, this database can become unoptimized, slowing down any searches against it for data. Errors can also creep into the database due to the volume of adds, modifications, and deletes that occur in the database every time you use your PC.
