Health and the Addict – Alcoholic and Opiate Treatment Patients
Health for the addicted person is many times considered a liability. Whatever your concern is health for an opiate addiction, alcohol addiction, methadone addiction or some other addiction, your health should be considered an asset in steps towards recovery. Your health should be your greatest asset. If you are a drug abuser or are addicted, then your asset is not as valuable.
By putting drugs in your body you are making toxic investments in to your most valuable asset, your health. Think for a moment about the health issues that may arise from an addiction problem. The list is long. You may develop any of the following as consequences of drug abuse or use: HIV, Hepatitis C, skin problems, liver problems, tooth decay, bone problems, venereal diseases and a myriad of other health issues.
There is no way to address health of an addict as a single solitary problem. Your problem may be different than the problem someone else may have. However, there are usually many similarities that may be resolved in the same manner even though they demonstrate different symptoms. The root cause may be the same. For instance most people gain weight when they enter methadone maintenance but there are some that lose weight. Same root cause ie methadone. In both situations metabolism is changed. In both situations the same product is the solution.
Your good health is an asset. Your health should be your greatest asset. Unfortunately, you have made toxic investments in your health. By using and / or abusing drugs you have put toxins in your body that have created negative issues in your life as well as in your health. You have put a lot of stress on your body and extremely your health and well being. Many of the negative things you are experiencing can be changed. It is time for you to invest wisely in your health. It is time to make your health a valuable asset.
The investment in your health will not only increase your body function, since increasing your asset, but will be profitable to you in your life style and maybe even in terms of money. It is an investment in your life. God gave us a body that will function properly if it is adequately and properly fed nutritionally.
There are some things you can do to help improve your asset. One of the easiest things is to increase your water intake. You need to eat whole foods as much as is possible. Limit the amount of processed foods you eat. You need to exercise. It does not have to elaborate just increase your body movement. Try to get and maintain a healthy weight. Decrease your sugar and sugar products (this includes things like bread, pastas and alcohol).
If you have an opiate addiction, heroin addiction, drug withdrawals, methadone withdrawals or you are in methadone treatment, opiate treatment or any drug treatment you owe it to yourself to improve your health which is main your asset.
